Democracy and Freedom
The Valencia Congress was closed over a lie.
We are at present celebrating the second centenary of 2nd May 1808.
A great majority of the leaders of our party, actively or passively, are acting in the same way as the Spaniards from that time.
As a consequence, some want to break the 1978 Constitution, they try, in order to maintain themselves in power, play with the unity in Spain, making agreements, if necessary, with pro-independency parties in some of our Self Governing regions.
With this irresponsible attitude, which favors some to the detriment of others, we believe that this would break the equality that must exist amongst our two cities and 17 Self Governing regions. PP rank and file members, supporters and voters are not going to allow this situation any longer.
It is clear that if PP leaders that must represent us are not up to rise to the occasion, and moreover, some trick us and betray us, sovereign rank and file members must take the power. And we are going to do it via democratic and free elections.
A significant group of rank and file members that met in Malaga decided that we were fed up. We are going to fight. For the good of our party and of Spain we are not going to stop until we manage to reach all of our aims.
Our “frechified” leaders are getting used to the carpet, the easy chair, the official car and the cushy job.
Whilst, so many honest Spaniards serve the party, contribute with their fees, time, support, votes, etc. So that some of these leaders, when having reached the power forget about the ideas, the principles, the values of the party and try to humiliate us, ignore us, despise us and declare us null and void. In summary, they try to anaesthetize us so that we become inexistent.
We want in our party professional politicians, not professionals on politics.
When some of them do not have other ways of subsisting, the power and the easy chair buy their will, principles and values. They become easy going, follow the crowd, give in and this even makes them ill.
- The sovereignity of the PP in their rank and file members, not in the “barionalities” The minority who is in power and even if being paid is the one controlling all mechanisms in the party at present. The rest of rank and file members do not exist. This must be changed.
- All rank and file members are the same. We are convention delegates. One rank and file member, one vote.
- One person, one position. We are against the accumulation of power.
- The organic and institutional positions cannot stay in the same position for more than two full terms of office.
- Open lists.
Only the direct vote of the rank and file member in a democratic assembly legitimates our political positions, and our future candidates to become part of an electoral list. We therefore have our doubts that the present organic leaders of our party are legitimate.
- Primary elections at all levels from bottom to top. We reject appointment via one sole leader.
- An important percentage of the convention delegates are real, the rest of them are appointed by some barons and in non official assemblies, and therefore appoint themselves amongst themselves.
- We are against corruption: we will not allow a single one.
- Presents. Politics must mean dedication and sacrifice. During the time one serves office, no present can be accepted.
- We are against the politization of Savings Banks
- The unity of Spain is not a game, neither is the 1978 Constitution.
- We are against playing with our national heroes: those who died accomplishing their missions in act of service abroad and terrorism victims jointly with their next of kin and relatives.
- We are against playing with ideas, principles or values.
- “Montesquieu is not dead”. As a basic element of Modern Constitutionalism we want a real separation of powers, “Trias politica”.
- We want to ask to all hundreds and hundreds of colleagues that are leaving to come back. We need them inside knowing that nobody is superfluous and that if somebody was to be superfluous it would never be any of them.
- We are against obscurantism at headquarters. We want total transparency.
- Civil servants in headquarters should be reminded that they are at the service and attention of the rank and file members and not to the service of the Executive Body of the party. We all pay them.
- The accounts of the party must be up-to-date and made public for all rank and file members and not under threat of expelling when daring to ask for them.
- We believe in the sum of us all, and not in separation and marginalization of those who do not agree.
